Yes it has the covers. To the best of my knowledge the A prefix scopes were the last Lyman Alaskans. My rifle has custom mounts and rings and thus need to be maintained. However when I put the scope in the optimal position the front end of the tube is about an 1/8th of an inch from coming out of the front ring. When I put the scope forward and position in out about 3/8's which by the way looks perfect then the eye relief isn't right. The previous owner said he changed out the scope because the crosshair was broken and he thought this earlier Alaskan had a great deal more eye relief. I hate to buy the scope an older scope without knowing the facts but I'm pretty sure I've heard this same thing years ago.
